Normally I prefer precision in my photographs, but something about this shot across Dublin's southside from Killiney Hill at sunset reminds me strongly of a painting. Perhaps pointillist? Visible are the old lead mines stack, some construction cranes (never far away in Dublin), the M50, and Wicklow's rolling hills.
The Sugarloaf mountain to the right; the Calary Lake Quarry to the left. Permission has been granted to infill this and turn it into grasslands, though it is being opposed. I like the balance between the lake and the mountain-top here.
The Peace Bridge in Derry (for reasons of linguistic efficiency) quite literally bridges between the famous "two communities" in Northern Ireland. This view was taken early in the new year, when there was so little light the exposure had to be kept open continually in order to capture the bridge at all. This turned the passers-by into ghost-like entities, walking across though barely seen.
