The Lock Bridge
Romantic couples have developed a tradition of leaving labelled and locked padlocks affixed to poles in various cities. Paris is perhaps the best known, but Amsterdam has not escaped. This bridge, known as Staalmeestersbrug, the bridge that crosses the Groenburgwal, is (or was) a very popular location for this, since it also has the beautiful Zuiderkerk tower (1614) at the end of the canal. Apparently the council doesn't like this and removes them periodically (and the bridge may be being refurbished at the moment anyway) so don't get too attached to this statement of love...
